British Airways will offer free fast onboard internet via space-based partnership

Flyers aboard the airline are set to access fast wifi in the air at no cost following a new agreement from SpaceX's space firm.

Complimentary plus Fast Connectivity for All

British Airways stated that the no-cost, “reliable and lightning-fast” internet service from SpaceX becomes offered to passengers flying coach, business, or first class as of the coming month.

Broad Rollout Throughout Various Flight Operators

The holding company of the airline, International Airlines Group, stated it had reached an agreement involving Starlink for providing internet access for 500-plus planes within its operators, which also include the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, plus the low-cost airline.

Uninterrupted Wifi starting at Boarding to Arrival

The airline stated that the implementation for this service was included in a seven billion pound “modernization” program and will offer smooth wifi coverage to passengers from boarding through landing, including when in flight across oceans or remote regions.

Customers can connect multiple electronics and won't need to have to use a separate password.

“Gamechanging for British Airways and our customers, elevating onboard service in the air on BA by giving them continuous internet from start to finish.”

Present Wifi Services

Basic wifi service remains offered for British Airways passengers on most of their planes via its .air service.

Members in the airline's loyalty club may send texts plus text-based correspondence in the air at no cost, while flyers who want to access audio, movies, or movies during the journey if not flying in first class can expect to pay from £4.99 to £21.99 for a connectivity bundle.

The Satellite Network

The provider operates a network of thousands of spacecraft which is run by Elon Musk’s aerospace firm.

Ongoing Improvements at British Airways

Their management have been striving to revitalize the airline again after a period of cost cutting, technology issues, labor disputes, and staff cuts.

British Airways stated that implementation with artificial intelligence had helped it to bring the airline's timeliness to record highs from over a decade ago.

Earnings Performance

Recently, British Airways announced a increase for earnings during the first half recently, assisting IAG’s profit to grow.

IAG will report its earnings covering the three months from July to September on Friday.

Additional SpaceX Agreements

British Airways’ update follows shortly following telecom provider Virgin Media O2 announced it was teaming up alongside the satellite provider to boost wireless coverage in the countryside of the UK, letting users to easily link mobile devices through orbiting devices in the absence of traditional network coverage can be found.
