The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Is Here, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Based on Iconic Releases

Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The movie will welcome back of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.

The company has a trio of new releases already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
